The Program Officer will have a multi-faceted role that supports different international programs at IREX. The first program, housed under IREX’s Education Practice, involves administering exchange programs of approximately 100 visiting J-1 scholars per year who conduct customized research programs at various third-party research organizations and institutions across the United States. In addition to driving application processes and advising participants and hosts on J-1 visa regulations, the Program Officer will provide programmatic and logistical support to other programs as needed in IREX’s Global Programs.
Key Background & Skills (see website for full list):
- Bachelor’s degree in international education, international development, or related field;
- 3+ years of progressive experience managing international exchange programs;
- Knowledge of J-1 immigration regulations and experience advising J-1 visa holders, including at least one year’s experience as an ARO (work with J-1 Scholar, Trainee, or Intern visa categories is a plus);
- You must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States (i.e. be a US citizen or legal permanent resident) in order to work in the SEVIS system.
